Weather and course conditions

Image

This is what the course and venue looked like at 4p on Friday. Note that no snow accumulated on the course or even the grass (I'm happy about the trail, but wish we had one more day of snow on the grass!) Note that the trail at this time is damp, with very few small puddles of water at the bottom of underpasses.

There is a possibility of black ice forming overnight if the trail gets cold enough to freeze over. So please keep that in mind when selecting your footwear and make sure to listen to my pre-race announcements for details on the course conditions tomorrow morning.

Disclaimer: not a meteorologist.

Not much has changed since yesterday. The cold front has arrived. It will be pretty cloudy and cool with temps going from the mid-20s to mid-30s during the event.

See above for the actual snow conditions at our event locations as of Friday afternoon, over halfway through the expected snowfall.

To quote the National Weather Service, "That being said, one consideration for the overnight period will be the freezing of road surfaces as snow gradually diminishes and
temperatures fall below into the 20`s, making roads slick early Saturday. Patchy fog can`t be ruled out either for the lower elevations in the morning." So please be careful as you make your way to the event tomorrow!

I sent out emails to all registered athletes with info on the changes Wednesday evening. If you did not get your email, please click on Athlete Details above to see the details. We will be holding the event as scheduled with this current forecast.

The course was changed because both the 10K and half marathon courses included soft surface for the original course that has some spots with uneven footing, the possibility for deep mud, and no plowing. We value the safety of our athletes, so we worked with the City of Westminster to adjust our courses to be all on concrete trails that will likely be plowed through the day on Friday (the City of Westminster is awesome!). We are sorry that we know you were training for the original course, but again, we value your safety most of all.

Updated Friday, 4:44p

Virtual participation

If the upcoming weather does not meet your training goals or running style, you can change to virtual participation. I will hold open virtual participation changes with no fee until Friday, April 18, 6p. If you decide to change after that, a $5 shipping fee will apply and will be dependent on sock availability (we won't be able to set your socks aside after Friday 6p). Virtual participation means that we will mail you a bib, SWAG, sticker, and finishers medal and you can run your distance at your leisure when the weather works for you. If you submit your time before Wednesday, April 23, your time will be included in the Run Amok Championship scores.

To switch to virtual participation, log into RunSignup and switch to your desired virtual distance and confirm your address is correct. If you are not able to, self-change, email events@alloutmultipro.com with your mailing address and the virtual distance that you would like to run.
